The Los Angeles Dodgers announced ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Oakland Athletics that they have placed Daniel Hudson on the 10-day disabled list with right forearm tightness and recalled Pat Venditte from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Hudson last pitched in Friday’s game against the Houston Astros when he tossed two shutout innings without allowing any baserunners.

Overall in 38 games this season, Hudson has been a pleasant surprise for Los Angeles. He has gone 3-2 with a 3.92 ERA, 4.18 FIP and 1.24 WHIP while striking out 40 and walking 18 in 43.2 innings after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays at the end of Spring Training.

It is unclear how long Hudson will be out for, although forearm tightness is usually not a good right for pitchers.

The switch-pitching Venditte has been back and forth between Oklahoma City and the big leagues a lot this season. He has struggled a bit at the Major League level, yielding an 8.31 ERA, 5.69 FIP and 2.08 WHIP with four strikeouts and one walk in 4.1 innings across five games.

He has been nails at the Triple-A level though, pitching to a 1.68 ERA and 0.85 WHIP in 42 appearances. He has struck out 59 and walked 14 in 48.1 innings.

With Ross Stripling due off the disabled list on Thursday, Venditte may not be with the team long before being optioned back to Oklahoma City.
