The Los Angeles Dodgers have been akin the walking wounded in recent weeks, with multiple players landing on the disabled list and others nursing minor malaises. On Tuesday, Logan Forsythe was removed in the bottom of the third inning with a contusion on his right big toe.

Scott Van Slyke pinch-hit for Forsythe and remained in the game in left field. Kiké Hernandez, who started in left field, moved to second base.

Forsythe was hit by a pitch on his right foot in the first inning, and immediately reacted in pain. He walked gingerly to first base, was checked on by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and trainer Nate Lucero, and remained in the game after a brief walk down the right-field line.

Forsythe didn’t do much running that inning, as Corey Seager struck out and Justin Turner grounded into a double play. He played the field in the second and third innings, fielding the lone grounder hit in his direction.

While Forsythe managed to play second base, he moved gingerly between pitches and at times appeared to wince in pain. This marks the second game in the past four days where Forsythe was forced to an early exit.

On Saturday, he was removed in the fifth inning due to right hamstring tightness. Forsythe was out of the lineup on Sunday, though returned Monday night and went 0-for-2 with one walk and two strikeouts.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had hoped to sit Forsythe a second time, but the 30-year-old insisted he was healthy enough to play.
