The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred Dennis Santana to the 60-day disabled list in order to create room for Daniel Corcino on the 40-man roster. Pat Venditte was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in order to place Corcino on the active roster.

Santana was initially placed on the 10-day DL Friday, retroactive to June 8, due to a right rotator cuff strain. He suffered the injury minutes before the Dodgers’ road trip finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Santana was due to make his first career MLB start but was scratched because of what the team initially diagnosed as right lat soreness. An MRI later confirmed the shoulder injury.

The game would have been Santana’s second of his career as his MLB debut came in relief against the Colorado Rockies. The young right-hander allowed five runs on six hits in 3.2 innings and despite some of the struggles at Coors Field, earned the win.

Santana began the 2018 season with Double-A Tulsa, where he pitched to an impressive 2.56 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in 38.2 innings pitched with 51 strikeouts against 14 walks. In two starts with Oklahoma City, he yielded a 2.45 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 11 innings with 14 strikeouts.

The Dodgers signed Santana as a 16-year-old out of the Dominican Republic. He debuted with their Dominican Summer League affiliate and then came stateside in 2015, pitching for Ogden and the Arizona League Dodgers.
