Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was named one of three finalists for the 2016 National League MVP Award. Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant and Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy round out the top-three voting for NL MVP.

Seager was also named a finalist for NL Rookie of the Year. The 22-year-old shortstop is one of just seven players to finish in the top three for Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season. He could become the third player to simultaneously win both awards.

He hit .308/.365/.512 with 40 doubles, 26 home runs, 72 RBI and 105 runs scored, while appearing in a career-high 157 games. Seager set Los Angeles rookie records in hits (193), runs scored, doubles and totals bases (321).

He entered the MVP race while driving the Dodgers’ offense during the summer months.

Bryant batted .292/.385/.554 with 35 doubles, 39 home runs and 102 RBI for a Cubs team that paced the Majors with 103 wins and won their first World Series since 1908.

Bryant started games at first base, third base, left field and right field. He won the 2014 Rookie of the Year favorite to win this season’s MVP.

Murphy hit a blistering .347/.390/.595, with 47 doubles, 25 home runs and 104 RBI over 142 games in his first season with the Nationals. Murphy led the NL in slugging percentage and on-base plus slugging (.595).

MVPs for the American League and NL will be announced on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. PT on MLB Network.
