Dodgers Injury Update: Hyun-Jin Ryu To Return Without Rehab Start, Logan Forsythe Trailing Behind

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday the club expects to welcome back Hyun-Jin Ryu from the disabled list in the near future, while there’s more uncertainty surrounding Logan Forsythe.

Ryu was put on the 10-day DL on May 1 with a left hip contusion. Roberts said Ryu has already reported improvement in his hip/glute. “I don’t see him going on a rehab,” the second-year manager added.

Roberts wasn’t certain which day the team would activate Ryu from the disabled list, but said “some time [this] weekend seems to make sense.”

To no surprise, the hamstring tightness that forced Forsythe to an early exit from his second rehab game with High-A Rancho Cucamonga has the Dodgers taking a cautious approach. It’s serving a dual purpose, as Forsythe’s fractured toe has yet to fully heal.

“We’re really addressing the hamstring, or whatever is causing it, maybe the hips are out of line,” Roberts said. “As far as a date, I don’t know. I know it’s going to call for three or four rehab games.”

Forsythe went on the DL on April 19 and was projected to miss two or three weeks. He was expected to return for Friday’s series opener against the San Diego Padres, but the hamstring issue ruled out that possibility.
