The 2025 Los Angeles Dodgers promotions and giveaways schedule announcement included 21 bobblehead dates planned throughout the year, including one for broadcaster Joe Davis in July.
It represented a first for Davis, who joined the SportsNet LA broadcast team during Vin Scully’s final season in 2016. Davis then took over primary play-by-play duties as voice of the Dodgers the following year as Scully retired.
Davis was poised to join the likes of Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, Tommy Edman, Ice Cube and Blake Treinen in receiving his first Dodgers bobblehead night. For Snell and Sasaki, it comes in their respective first seasons with the team.
However, the Davis bobblehead giveaway was recently removed from the list of remaining Dodger Stadium giveaways for the 2025 season.
The Dodgers did not provide a reason for the change or announce a replacement item for their July 6 home game against the Houston Astros.
Joe Davis bobblehead rescheduled
After several days of the Davis bobblehead being left off the 2025 Dodgers promotional schedule, it now has been rescheduled with a date of Friday, Sept. 19.
The new Joe Davis bobblehead date comes when the Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants. It’s also the last bobblehead now on the Dodgers’ giveaway schedule for this season.
The design of Davis’ bobblehead still has not been revealed, nor has an explanation been provided for the change.
One potential reason is a majority of Dodgers bobblehead dates are not scheduled for a Saturday or Sunday, which was the case with the initial Davis giveaway. Another is the design possibly being changed to reflect Davis’ recent Sports Emmy Award, but that came in recognition for his work with Fox.
This season is Davis’ 10th as a Dodgers broadcaster. In 2022, Davis replaced Joe Buck as the lead MLB play-by-play announcer for Fox Sports.
