The Los Angeles Dodgers had six prospects featured on Baseball America’s Top 100 list for the 2023 season, headlined by Diego Cartaya (No. 18) and Bobby Miller (No. 21).

Also on the list of top prospects in baseball are Miguel Vargas (No. 30), Michael Busch (No. 54), Ryan Pepiot (No. 55) and Gavin Stone (No. 56).

Cartaya is coming off a stellar 2022 campaign in which he hit a combined .254/.389/.503 with 22 doubles, 22 home runs and 72 RBI between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and High-A Great Lakes.

The 21-year-old participated in the 2022 MLB All-Star Futures Game at Dodger Stadium and was named the 2022 Branch Rickey Minor League Player of the Year by the Dodgers.

Miller went a combined 6-6 with a 4.45 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 11.6 strikeouts per nine in 91 innings pitched between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City (20 games, 19 starts). He also was among the Dodgers to participate in last year’s All-Star Futures Game.

Vargas batted .304/.402/.511 with 17 home runs, 82 RBI, 99 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 112 games with Oklahoma City and earned a selection to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team.

Vargas had his first cup of coffee with the Dodgers and impressed in his MLB debut before going on to earn a spot on the team’s National League Division Series roster.

Busch hit a stellar .274/.365/.516 with 38 doubles, 32 home runs and 108 RBI between the Drillers and OKC, and presumably will factor into the Dodgers’ plans at some point during the 2023 season.

Pepiot pitched to a 2.56 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 91.1 innings for OKC and also spent time with the Dodgers. He made seven starts at the MLB level, going 3-0 with a 3.47 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 36.1 innings of work.

Stone split the 2022 season between the Loons, Drillers and OKC, and went a combined 9-6 with a minuscule 1.48 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 121.2 innings pitched (26 games, 25 starts).

Dodgers prospects Bobby Miller & Gavin Stone ranked by MLB Pipeline

Miller and Stone were also ranked among the top-10 right-handed pitchers heading into the 2023 season by MLB Pipeline. Miller checked in at sixth and Stone placed 10th.

The Dodgers are one of three organizations that have two prospects on MLB Pipeline’s rankings, joining the Philadelphia Phillies and Cleveland Guardians.
