Dodgers Prospects Bobby Miller & Gavin Stone Ranked By MLB Pipeline Among Top-10 Right-Handed Pitchers

Los Angeles Dodgers prospects Bobby Miller and Gavin Stone were both ranked among the top-10 right-handed pitchers heading into the 2023 season by MLB Pipeline.

Bobby Miller checked in at sixth, with Gavin Stone placing 10th. They further headline the Dodgers’ history of drafting and developing elite pitchers.

The Dodgers are one of three organizations that have two prospects on MLB Pipeline’s rankings, joining the Philadelphia Phillies and Cleveland Guardians.

For the 23-year-old Miller, who was picked in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft, the 2022 Minor League season saw him ranked as the second-best Dodgers prospect. He finished with a combined 4.25 ERA across 23 starts between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City.

In addition to the Louisville product collecting 145 strikeouts over 112.1 innings of work last year, the fireballer also represented L.A. in this past summer’s MLB Futures Game at Dodger Stadium.

A dominant 2022 saw the 24-year-old Stone bestowed as the Dodgers’ prestigiousMinor League Pitcher of the Year, and for good reason.

Jumping all the way from High-A Great Lakes to Triple-A last season, Stone pitched to a stellar 1.48 ERA over 25 starts. Included in that was an impeccable 1.16 ERA in six starts with OKC to close out his season. He also delivered a 0.94 WHIP in 23.1 innings with the OKC Dodgers.

After seemingly being promoted together to Triple-A last year, it’s plausible Miller and Stone will both make their MLB debut with the Dodgers this season.

As Miller ranked second and Stone seventh in last year’s organizational prospect rankings by MLB.com, they also cracked MLB Pipeline’s top-100 prospects list for 2022.

Bobby Miller potential target in Bryan Reynolds trade

As the Dodgers continue to search for a potentially new center fielder, Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star outfielder Bryan Reynolds is rumored be among their targets.

Although the Dodgers have remained interested in Reynolds, a name that has been brought up as a possible trade chip is the right-handed Miller

While Miller could seemingly be deemed as a ‘non-starter’ for Los Angeles in the trade talks, his big league projection surely makes him an understandable target for any team when trading with the Dodgers, and especially for the re-building Pirates.
