The 2020 Major League Baseball season, as well as other sports, remain on hold due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that has spread across the world.

Opening Day would have taken place this week at stadiums all throughout the country, but there is now no telling when the season will get started, if at all. MLB nonetheless continues to paint the possibility of playing all 162 games this year.

Meanwhile, the league, its teams and players, and people all across the United States are being told to stay home to stop the spread of the coronavirus. And for essential trips to the market, doctor or otherwise, “social distance” is strongly encouraged.

The Boston Red Sox are one organization that is doing what it can to promote social distancing as the socks on their famous logo has been separated on their social media accounts for the time being:

Other companies like McDonald’s are doing the same as they have separated the famous golden arches at some of their locations throughout the world.

With no return date in sight, MLB teams have all closed down their Spring Training facilities, and that includes the Los Angeles Dodgers and Camelback Ranch.

The original plan was for Spring Training facilities to remain open so that players can continue to stay in shape for whenever the season does start. As the virus has continued to spread, it made sense to shut everything down for the time being and follow the directions of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local governments.

The quicker that everyone follows directions and stays inside, the quicker the country can get coronavirus under control and sports can resume their respective seasons. The clock is ticking though, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts recently acknowledged that MLB has a “drop-dead” date when they would be required to cancel the whole season.
