The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Pennsylvania high school third baseman Chase Harlan in the third round, No. 98 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft.

Harlan was ranked as the No. 112 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline.

The 18-year-old also has a commitment to Clemson, so the Dodgers will likely need to give him an overslot deal to get him to sign. The slot value of the 98th overall pick is $745,000.

According to MLB Pipeline, Harlan is a strong and physically mature corner infielder with pop in his bat and a power over hitting profile.

While he’s a power first guy, the hope is his hit tool will improve overtime and with some possible adjustments.

Harlan is not the most athletic player, but he isn’t slow on the bases either. He also should stick at third base as a quality defender.

On the 20-80 scouting scale, Pipeline ranks Harlan with a 45 hit grade, 50 power, 50 running, 50 arm and 50 field, giving him an overall grade of 45.

In his senior year of high school, Harlan hit .382/.506/.750 over 89 plate appearances with eight doubles, one triple, five home runs, 23 runs batted in, 22 runs scored and 16 walks to only five strikeouts.

In his high school career, he hit .407/.488/.710 while spending three and a half seasons on the varsity squad. During that time, he played in 64 games, hitting 19 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, driving in 65 runs and scoring 61 runs.

The Dodgers should have the money to sign him after going with a likely underslot pick in the first round in high school shortstop Kellon Lindsey.

The No. 23 pick in the draft comes with a slot value of $3,676,400, and Lindsey is expecting to sign with the Dodgers rather than attend the University of Florida, where he committed to.

Dodgers draft picks remaining on Day 2 after selecting Chase Harlan

The Dodgers lost their second- and fifth-round draft picks for signing Shohei Ohtani, but they still have six picks remaining for today.

Round 4: 128th overall ($556,300)
Round 6: 190th overall ($315,500)
Round 7: 220th overall ($247,900)
Round 8: 250th overall ($205,800)
Round 9: 280th overall ($188,800)
Round 10: 310th overall ($179,000)
