The 2021 National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot was released and on it are 25 candidates, including 11 newcomers. Up for induction are seven former players with ties to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mark Buehrle, A.J. Burnett, Michael Cuddyer, Dan Haren, LaTroy Hawkins, Tim Hudson, Torii Hunter, Aramis Ramírez, Nick Swisher, Shane Victorino and Barry Zito debut on the on the BBWAA ballot in 2021.

Returning for Hall of Fame consideration are Bobby Abreu, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Todd Helton, Andruw Jones, Jeff Kent, Andy Pettitte, Manny Ramirez, Scott Rolen, Curt Schilling, Gary Sheffield, Sammy Sosa, Omar Vizquel and Billy Wagner.

Bonds, Clemens, Schilling and Sosa each are on the Hall of Fame ballot for a ninth year; Kent appears for an eight time and Sheffield is up for consideration a seventh consecutive year. Candidates can remain eligible for 10 years so long as they are not elected and are named on at least 5% of ballots cast each year.

Clemens (61%), Bonds (60%) and Vizquel were the only players to receive at least 50% of the vote but not be inducted last year. The 2020 Hall of Fame class featured Derek Jeter, Marvin Miller, Ted Simmons and Larry Walker.

Any candidate who receives votes on 75% of all ballots will earn election into the Hall of Fame. Results will be announced Jan. 26 on MLB Network, and the 2021 Hall of Fame Class — along with last year’s group — will be inducted during Hall of Fame Weekend on Sunday, July 25, at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown.

While they spent time with the Dodgers during their respective careers, Abreu, Haren, Jones, Kent, Ramirez and Victorino each would be immortalized while donning the cap of another club; Sheffield may fall into that category as well.

Dodgers in Hall of Fame

Including managers, executives, broadcasters and players, a total of 59 members with ties to the Dodgers have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The last player to be enshrined with the Dodgers as his primary team was Don Sutton in 1998.
