Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias is set to make history on May 7 when he becomes the first comedian to headline a stand-up show at Dodger Stadium. The night is part of a Netflix festival that is due to feature more than 130 artists performing in over 25 different venues across Los Angeles.
Iglesias’ show at Dodger Stadium will be recorded for his newest Netflix special. Tickets for the historic set and other shows for the festival went on sale to the general public in December.
Iglesias was born in San Diego, Calif. but spent most of his youth in the L.A. area. He is looking forward to returning home for what he has deemed the “biggest” show of his career, via CBS L.A. Sports Central:
“First of all, the fact that it’s the biggest show I’ve ever done and it’s at home, dude, it’s home. All the shows I’ve done everywhere else have been awesome, but it’s the biggest show of my career and it’s at home. So if it goes well, awesome. And if it bombs, it’s a short drive. … If it sells out, we’ll probably have to add a second show.”
In addition to Iglesias, Netflix has also tabbed Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, Seth Rogen, Larry David, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jane Fonda, Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, Chelsea Handler and more to perform during its festival that runs April 28-May 8.
Dave Chappelle and Friends open the stretch of shows at Hollywood Bowl, and a recorded special, “The Hall: Honoring the Greats of Stand-Up,” that will feature the top performers in comedy paying homage to Joan Rivers and Robin Williams more, closes the Netflix festival at the Hollywood Palladium.
