Yasmani Grandal added to his hot streak on Tuesday night with a pair of solo home against the Philadelphia Phillies. The multi-home run game was the 10th of Grandal’s career, and his second this season.

His first homer came off Phillies starter Aaron Nola in the second inning, which Grandal hit as a left-handed batter. Then over on the right side of the plate, he again went to right-center field, but off Phillies reliever Adam Morgan to lead off the sixth.

With that, Grandal hit a home run from both sides of the plate in a single game for the fourth time in his career. Three of which have come with the Dodgers, as he’s now done so once in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Per STATS LLC, that broke a tie with Milton Bradley and Eddie Murray for the Dodgers record of most games with a home run from both sides.

Unfortunately, Grandal’s record-breaking night was all for naught as the Dodgers fell in 16 innings. Kiké Hernandez also made history in the loss, as he became the first player since Babe Ruth to play the infield, outfield and allow three runs as a pitcher in a single game. Additionally, Hernandez became the first full-time position player to allow a walk-off home run.

Due to catching the entirety of Tuesday’s game, Grandal was not in the lineup for the series finale at Citizens Bank Park. He nonetheless entered play batting .408/.525/.837 with four doubles, one triple, five home runs and 11 RBI in 16 games (12 starts) during July.
