Now for sale from FOCO is an exclusive Shohei Ohtani press conference bobblehead, released as the Los Angeles Dodgers concluded their formal welcoming of the two-way star.
Ohtani’s press conference at Dodger Stadium also featured Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman on stage in the center field plaza.
The new Ohtani bobblehead has him holding a home white Dodgers jersey and wearing the team’s trademark blue cap. The current graphic has Ohtani dressed in a black suit, but the final product will be updated to reflect the outfit he wore to the introductory press conference.
Along the backboard of the Ohtani bobblehead reads, “It’s ShoTime” and has the Dodgers’ logo. Along the front of the base is Ohtani’s full name and “LA” logo.
The Ohtani press conference bobblehead stands 10 inches tall and is limited to 1,024 total units. It will not be restocked once quantities sell out.
FOCO’s first Ohtani bobblehead to commemorate his signing with the Dodgers sold out in a handful of hours. Still available is an 18-inch version.
Joe Kelly changed jersey numbers for Shohei Ohtani
Ohtani is continuing to wear No. 17 with the Dodgers thanks in large part to Joe Kelly agreeing to switch to 99. Kelly explained choosing 99 as his new jersey number is an ode to Ricky ‘Wild Thing’ Vaughn from the 1998 film “Major Leagues.”
Despite needing to change, Kelly, like others have expressed, is excited to be teammates with Ohtani.
“Obviously he’s one of the best hitters in the game,” Kelly said from a holiday event the Dodgers hosted. “I faced him numerous times, a couple of doubles off of myself. A couple of them could’ve been outs. I’m not going to say any names – A.J. Pollock.”
