Brooklyn Mexican Restaurant Trolls Clayton Kershaw

After struggling in a start at Petco Park last season, the San Diego Padres displayed a meme of Clayton Kershaw crying on the scoreboard in left field following their win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

When asked to comment on the Padres’ trolling, Kershaw put the onus on himself to pitch better, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts opted not to respond.

Kershaw has been the subject of jokes in recent years due to his inconsistencies in the postseason and rival fans simply not liking him.

Super Burrito, a Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, took a shot at Kershaw by including his likeness on a poster that gives tips on what to do if someone is choking.

A New York restaurant displaying a poster of Kershaw choking is curious considering the Dodgers’ major rivals play in California.

Another interesting wrinkle is that Super Burrito is close to the former site of Ebbets Field, where the Brooklyn Dodgers called home from 1913-1957.

Kershaw’s reputation of not performing in the postseason comes with the territory as he owns a 4.49 ERA in 39 career appearances (32 games).

He has been productive as recently as 2020 when the Dodgers won the World Series, but allowed six runs and retired only batter in his last start against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 1 of the 2023 National League Division Series.

Will Dodgers re-sign Clayton Kershaw?

Kershaw is among the top remaining free agents, but hasn’t had much of a market due to the fact he will be sidelined until at least the second half of the 2024 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The Dodgers have added the likes of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and James Paxton this offseason, but are believed to be keeping the door open for Kershaw to potentially return.
