FOCO Releases New J.D. Martinez Bobblehead For Dodgers Signing

FOCO is selling a new J.D. Martinez bobblehead to commemorate his signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the 2023 season.

The Martinez bobblehead is set to FOCO’s signature “Next Stop” theme that previously was utilized when Freddie Freeman signed with the Dodgers and to celebrate Albert Pujols joining the team during the 2021 season. The Martinez bobblehead is limited to 72 units and won’t be restocked once quantities sell out.

FOCO is accepting pre-orders, with bobblehead due to ship no later than June.

The Dodgers finalized the signing of Martinez to a one-year, $10 million contract on Thursday afternoon. Jake Reed was designated for assignment in order to make room on the 40-man roster, which remains full.

Martinez figures to be the everyday designated hitter in the Dodgers lineup, which is a change from the team’s approach over recent years. Since the DH was implemented in the National League, the Dodgers preferred to rotate their regular starters through the spot as a means of providing them with some rest.

Martinez spent the past five seasons with the Boston Red Sox, where he made four All-Star Game appearances, won a Silver Slugger Award and finished in the top-four of MVP voting in 2018. During his time in Boston, Martinez hit a combined .292 with 130 home runs and 423 RBI.

He appeared in 139 games this year, batting .274/.341/.448 with 43 doubles, 16 homers and 62 RBI. Martinez hit .302 with 30 doubles, nine home runs and 38 RBI in the first half en route to earning a fourth consecutive All-Star Game selection.

The five-time All-Star has been in the Majors for parts of 12 seasons with the Houston Astros (2011-2013), Detroit Tigers (2014-2017), Arizona Diamondbacks (2017) and Red Sox (2018-2022). Martinez famously hit four home runs against the Dodgers in 2017, and now makes MLB history by playing for them.
