Dodgers Vs. Marlins Game Preview: Tyler Anderson Looking To Rebound

The Los Angeles Dodgers begin a seven-game road trip with a wraparound series and another time facing the Miami Marlins. They met last week at Dodger Stadium, when the Dodgers outscored the Marlins, 19-4, en route to completing a three-game series sweep.

Many of the same regulars are in the Dodgers lineup for the opener at loanDepot Park, but Gavin Lux remains out due to a neck/back issue. Lux was initially scratched on Tuesday and he also missed the series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers as well.

“Little bit better today,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday. It’s kind of lower neck, upper back. Today is better, so the hope is he’ll be back in the lineup on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Tyler Anderson tries to bounce back from being frustrated with his start against the Marlins last weekend. Anderson pitched seven innings and only allowed one run on five hits, but was unhappy with his lack of command throughout the night as he also issued three walks.

“I think it was more of a thing where I felt like I didn’t have my best command or best stuff,” he said after the start. “It was just kind of a day of trying to compete. Got into situations where I walked some guys or put guys on, and felt like I wasn’t throwing great pitches.

“So at that point was kind of like, forget everything else and figure out how to compete.”

Anderson enters 13-2 with a 2.73 ERA. He’s completed at least six innings in five of six starts since the All-Star break.

The Marlins counter with Tommy Nance for only his second start out of 23 appearances this season. The rookie pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen against the Dodgers on Aug. 20.
