Dodgers Vs. Giants Game Preview: L.A. Tries To Avoid Sweep

The Los Angeles Dodgers try to avoid a series sweep against their division rival San Francisco Giants after dropping the first two games at Oracle Park by scoring just two runs in each contest.

L.A. is also looking to turn around the greater struggles that have plagued them over the last two weeks. They have just four wins in their last 10 games and have lost eight of their last 12.

Julio Urías takes the mound after pitching 5.1 innings and giving up one run in his last outing against the New York Mets. Although the results were there, the southpaw was frustrated with not providing more depth.

That start highlighted his season to this point where Urías has had success overall, but isn’t the same dominant pitcher he was in 2021. In 58.1 innings this season, Urías has posted a 2.78 ERA, but he also owns a 4.61 FIP while striking out just 19.6% of hitters and walking 6.4%.

Urías faced the Giants during their two-game series at Dodger Stadium in May and pitched six shutout innings while giving up four hits and striking out four.

The Giants counter with Carlos Rodón, who was their big signing of the offseason but has had mixed results to this point.

Overall, he owns a 3.51 ERA and 2.64 FIP across 59 innings while striking out 30.2% of hitters and walking 8.9%, but over 27 innings in May he posted a 5.67 ERA. So far in June, Rodón has thrown nine innings while giving up three runs in two starts, including four innings and two runs in his last outing against the Colorado Rockies.

Rodón faced the Dodgers earlier this season and pitched six innings while giving up two runs and striking out three.

Although they haven’t shown it recently, L.A. still owns one of the top offenses in baseball, with an MLB-leading 307 runs scored while batting .248/.330/.423 with a .330 wOBA and 114 wRC+.

The Giants are just a few spots behind them, scoring the third-most runs in baseball (287) while hitting .243/.322/.405 with a .321 wOBA and 108 wRC+.
