The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Love L.A. community tour began Monday with the club hosting a mentoring lunch in the Lexus Club at Dodger Stadium, among the day’s activities.
This year marks the 13th consecutive year in which the Dodgers have held a community service week.
It continued on Tuesday with skipper Dave Roberts getting recognized by the Los Angeles County of Supervisor for being the Dodgers’ first minority manager.
Later that afternoon, Yasiel Puig visited the Salvation Army, Red Shield Youth and Community Center to play soccer with children.
Puig is one of several current and former Dodgers who are scheduled to be involved with the tour, which concludes Friday, Jan. 29.
A quick clip of Puig on the pitch is provided by J.P. Hoornstra of the LA Daily News:
While Puig is often the target of criticism, he’s participated in organized and impromptu games with young children. Puig hosted 50 kids for a baseball game inside Dodger Stadium in 2013, and in March of last year joined a pickup baseball game in Miami.
