Dodgers Video: Vin Scully Says Goodbye To Dodger Stadium With Song

The Los Angeles Dodgers opened Vin Scully Weekend with a heartfelt on-field ceremony to honor the organization’s iconic voice. Vin Scully Appreciation Day was followed by more tributes on Saturday, with the Dodgers inching closer to a National League West division title each passing day.

Their efforts set the stage for the final home game of Scully’s 67-year career to have a storybook ending. However, the Colorado Rockies held a 2-1 lead after the third inning, and broke a 2-2 tie in the ninth behind David Dahl’s solo home run.

Corey Seager, whose RBI triple in the seventh tied the game, delivered yet again for the Dodgers. His two-out solo home run in the ninth sent the game into extra innings.

Los Angeles went on to clinch a fourth straight NL West title behind Charlie Culberson’s improbable walk-off home run with two outs in the 10th inning. Dodger Stadium went into a frenzy, then quieted as Scully was handed a microphone and began to address the crowd.

The Dodgers had made multiple in-game announcements urging fans to remain in their seats after the game concluded. As he’s done with plenty of regularity, Scully thanked the fans for their support.

Scully remained convinced he needed the fans more than they needed him. After giving thanks for the decades of support, an audio recording of Scully singing “Wind Beneath My Wings,” which he originally sang for his wife, was played.

And with that, the Hall of Fame broadcaster walked out of his booth at Dodger Stadium a final time.
