Dodgers Video: Vin Scully Gets Visit From Giants’ Hall Of Famer Willie Mays

With the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants spending the past weekend closing out the 2016 regular season, it also marked the end of Vin Scully’s Hall-of-Fame career. Scully called his last game at Dodger Stadium on Sept. 29, which saw the Dodgers clinch the National League West in dramatic fashion.

The three-game series at AT&T Park went in favor of the Giants, who swept the Dodgers to earn a spot in the NL Wild Card Game. Although the two clubs are storied rivals, the Giants organization did their part in honoring Scully.

There were multiple tributes throughout the weekend, and a personal touch included Giants legend Willie Mays visiting Scully in the television booth.

Scully grew up a Giants fan in New York, and has referred to Mays as his favorite player on multiple occasions. Scully relayed to Mays on Saturday, adding, “even though you wore the wrong uniform.”

Two of the best at their profession spent several minutes recalling favorite highlights and joking about who is older. Mays was a 19-time All-Star over his 22-year career that began with the New York Giants and continued in San Francisco.

His 660 career home runs ranks sixth all-time. Mays’ career began in 1951, just one year after Scully began calling games for the Dodgers.
