The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a series of transactions on Thursday as the team navigates a depleted pitching staff with the likes of Blake Snell, Clayton Kershaw, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Treinen and Michael Kopech among those on the injured list.
With the Dodgers acquiring Ryan Loutos and J.P. Feyereisen, Kopech was transferred to the 60-day injured list. So too was Treinen, who already faced a prolonged recovery process.
Snell remains on the 15-day IL because of left shoulder inflammation. He was shut down from throwing for a second time and recently received an injection in the ailing shoulder.
According to Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group, Snell is now poised to begin playing catch next week:
Left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) is on the 10-game trip with the Dodgers and is expected to start a throwing program on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Kopech has continued to progress and is already facing batters at Camelback Ranch ahead of starting a rehab assignment:
Right-hander Michael Kopech (forearm discomfort/shoulder impingement) has moved his rehab to Arizona, where he has thrown to hitters in live batting practice. He is scheduled to repeat that on Monday then start a minor-league injury rehabilitation assignment later in the week.
Kopech had already spent several weeks at the Dodgers’ Spring Training facility but was back at Dodger Stadium during the homestand to continue with bullpen sessions.
On the other hand, Snell’s update is a welcome change of pace after a bleak outlook had begun to form regarding his availability.
Dodgers add two new relievers
Feyereisen is back for his second stint with the Dodgers after he made 10 appearances for them during the 2024 season. The right-hander went 0-1 with an 8.18 ERA and 1.45 WHIP as a depth piece. During his time with Triple-A Oklahoma City last year, Feyereisen was 2-6 with a 5.48 ERA in 33 games.
Loutos made his MLB debut with the Cardinals last season and pitched 2.1 scoreless innings over three appearances. He had a 3.38 ERA in eight games with Triple-A Memphis this season.
