The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the busiest teams ahead of the August 1 MLB trade deadline, filling multiple needs with the acquisitions of Kiké Hernández, Amed Rosario, Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly.
Hernández and Rosario will help from the right-handed side of the plate and provide additional positional flexibility. Lynn and Kelly have both struggled this season, but their underlying numbers indicate they could benefit from a change of scenery.
Lynn waived his no-trade clause to join the Dodgers and will slot into a rotation that includes Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, Julio Urías and Bobby Miller, among others, at full health.
Eduardo Rodriguez blocked a trade to the Dodgers hours before the deadline, and the team wound up only acquiring Ryan Yarbrough from the Kansas City Royals, according to Mark Feinsand and Juan Toribio of MLB.com:
The Dodgers have acquired Ryan Yarbrough from the Royals, sources tell me and @juanctoribio.

The Dodgers traded Devin Mann and Derlin Figueroa to the Royals for Yarbrough:

Yarbrough is 4-5 with a 4.24 ERA, 4.29 FIP and 1.19 WHIP in 14 games (seven starts) for the Royals this season.
The 31-year-old has been a fixture in the Royals’ starting rotation since early May. Yarbrough went 0-3 with one blown save and a 6.35 ERA in eight games (one start) prior to that point.
Dodgers starting rotation outlook
Much like Lynn, Yarbrough’s biggest quality this season has been an ability to log innings. He’s additionally excelled in limiting hard contact and remains under team control through the 2024 season.
