Weeks of speculation gave way to a reported agreement between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox on a Mookie Betts trade that also involved David Price and the Minnesota Twins as a third team.

As a result, the Dodgers sent Kenta Maeda to the Twins in exchange for Brusdar Graterol, who was in turn flipped to the Red Sox along with Alex Verdugo. As that was being pieced together, the Dodgers also reached an agreement to trade Joc Pederson to the L.A. Angels for Luis Rengifo.

That deal was seemingly contingent on the Dodgers, Red Sox and Twins moving ahead with their trade, and was one that would alleviate a bit of a logjam in L.A.

According to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the Dodgers will package Pederson with a starting pitcher and a prospect, and receive Rengifo and Minor Leaguer:

Amid early speculation Price was going to be redirected to a third team, he also has been ruled out as the pitcher the Angels will receive:

Per ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, the Angels are receiving Andy Pages as the prospect:

While Anaheim made a splash this offseason by signing Anthony Rendon, pitching remained a point of concern. They reportedly had interest in Dallas Keuchel and Hyun-Jin Ryu prior to each southpaw signing elsewhere.

Even with losing Rich Hill and Ryu in free agency, the Dodgers had a surplus of starters prior to landing Price as part of the Betts trade. Considering the Angels are due to receive what’s been classified as a Major League pitcher, Ross Stripling or Caleb Ferguson could be making the move south with Pederson.
