Dodgers Tickets For Seoul Series Opener In South Korea Sold Out

The Los Angeles Dodgers are opening the 2024 season with a two-game series against the San Diego Padres in South Korea as part of the MLB World Tour, which also includes games in Mexico City and London.

Tickets for the Seoul Series went on sale this past Friday and prices ranged from $90 to $525. They were reserved for Coupang Wow subscribers in South Korea and not available to foreign fans.

According to Jenny Seung Min Lee and Hooyeon Kim of Bloomberg, tickets for the Seoul Series sold out in roughly an hour, and nearly 40,000 people were on the waiting list:

Tickets to watch Shohei Ohtani make his debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a season-opening baseball game in Seoul were snapped up in the first hour of going on sale Friday.

About 30,000 people were on the waiting list for the Major League Baseball game, the first of two in the Seoul Series, as of 8:05 p.m, and that number rose to 40,000 in the following 15 minutes. Coupang Play, which is selling the tickets and streaming the games, said it was not immediately able to confirm how many people accessed the ticketing platform.

Anticipation for the Seoul Series increased after the Dodgers’ signings of Japanese stars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto this offseason. Moreover, these are the first MLB games being played in South Korea.

The two-game series will be played at Gocheok Sky Dome from March 20-21, with 7:05 p.m. local start times (3:05 a.m. PT).

The Dodgers are starting a regular season abroad for the first time since 2014 when they met the Arizona Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia.
