Major League Baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers this week unveiled caps and gear that players and on-field personnel will wear for Jackie Robinson Day, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day and Fourth of July.
Los Angeles has the luxury of playing at Dodger Stadium for all of those holidays this season, as they host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Jackie Robinson Day, face the Cincinnati Reds on Mother’s Day, draw the Philadelphia Phillies on Memorial Day, see the San Francisco Giants on Father’s Day and the Pittsburgh Pirates on the Fourth of July.
The hats and gear that are worn by players on these days are typically auctioned off on MLB.com after these games to support charities like Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer awareness foundation on Mother’s Day, Welcome Back Veterans on Memorial Day and the Prostate Cancer Foundation on Father’s Day.
On Mother’s Day, the team will wear pink caps outfitted with a blue bill and the traditional L.A. logo in blue. On Memorial Day the caps will be a camouflage design, Father’s Day they will be baby blue and on the Fourth of July they will have stars and stripes, with a script under the bill.
Jackie Robinson Day: Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks, 1:10 p.m.
Jackie Robinson Day, which takes place on April 15 every year to celebrate Robinson breaking the color barrier with Broolyn, has the Dodgers at the forefront of the celebration.
In addition to all players wear No. 42 on their jerseys, the Dodgers will also have a patch to commemorate the day on the side of their traditional blue caps and there will be a special hooded fleece with the Robinson No. 42 logo on it.
The Dodgers will give out Robinson replica jerseys to fans in attendance as they have done the last few years.
Mother’s Day: Dodgers vs. Reds, 1:10 p.m.
In the past, MLB has typically put players in jerseys with pink trim, though it’s not clear if that tradition will apply this season.
Memorial Day: Dodgers vs. Phillies, 5:10 p.m.
Father’s Day: Dodgers vs. Giants, 1:10 p.m.
Like with Mother’s Day, players and on-field personnel typically wear uniforms that resemble that season’s cap design. It’s plausible MLB will unveil jerseys at a later date.
Fourth of July: Dodgers vs. Pirates, 5:10 p.m.
