Dodgers Video: Cody Bellinger Hits Home Run Out Of Oneok Field

The majority of the attention given to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ restocked farm system has centered around the likes of Joc Pederson, Corey Seager and Julio Urias. With all three now playing a significant role in the Majors, Cody Bellinger is among the next wave.

The Dodgers selected Bellinger out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz., in the fourth round of the 2013 Draft. He joined the team in Spring Training this year on his first non-roster invite.

Bellinger built on his strong 2015 season with High-A Rancho Cucamonga and put forth a strong showing in Cactus League play.

He began this season with Double-A Tulsa, and is now considered by multiple publications as being the top prospect in the Dodgers organization.

Some of the reasoning behind that was seen Saturday in a home run that Bellinger hit out of ONEOK Field, via the Drillers’ Twitter account:

The homer was Bellinger’s 17th this season, which is good for second-most on the team behind Willie Calhoun’s 23 homers. The 21-year-old Bellinger is batting .261/.362/.462 with 14 doubles and 49 RBIs in 96 games this season.

A natural first baseman, Bellinger has shown plenty of versatility by also logging time at all three outfield positions.
