Dodgers Rumors: Bobby Miller Possibly Returning During Cardinals Series

Bobby Miller was among the Los Angeles Dodgers rookies to make his MLB debut during the 2023 season, and the team expected to rely on the right-hander as one of their anchors in the starting rotation this year.

However, Miller struggled through his first three starts and was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation in April. He was inconsistent upon returning and wound up being optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Heading down the Minors has not yielded positive results on a consistent basis, but Thursday night was going to represent an opportunity to right the ship.

That’s now changed, as Miller was scratched from his start in the event of needing to join the Dodgers at some point during their series against the St. Louis Cardinals and not due to more trouble with a minor adductor injury, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:

The Dodgers are without a probable starter for the series opener at Busch Stadium, but the expectation has been the team will recall Justin Wrobleski from Oklahoma City.

Tyler Glasnow was pushed back to Saturday in order to receive an extra day of rest, and Clayton Kershaw is lined up for the series finale against the Cardinals.

Jose Hernandez is starting in place of Miller against the Las Vegas Aviators (Oakland Athletics affiliate).

Bobby Miller’s stats

Miller is 1-2 with an 8.07 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over seven starts for the Dodgers this season. He’s 0-1 with a 5.82 ERA in five outings with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has often been non-committal when discussing the likelihood or potential of Miller returning to the rotation this season.
