Yoendrys Gómez was added onto the Los Angeles Dodgers roster and Noah Davis got optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Davis returns to the Minors after spending one week with the club. He joined the Dodgers organization on domestic Opening Day in a trade with the Boston Red Sox. The Dodgers acquired Davis in exchange for cash considerations.
Davis joined the Dodgers roster when he was recalled from Oklahoma City on April 18. He took the vacancy that had been created the day prior when the Dodgers optioned Bobby Miller back to OKC following his disastrous spot start.
The right-hander went 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in three appearances for the Dodgers. Davis last pitched on Friday night, contributing two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in the Dodgers’ 3-0 loss to the Pirates.
Although Davis has an inflated ERA, he didn’t allow an earned run in two of three games.
Prior to this year, Davis pitched in the Majors for the Colorado Rockies over parts of three seasons from 2022-2024. During that span he went 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA, 5.65 FIP and 1.95 WHIP in 18 games (six starts).
Davis appeared in a career-high nine games for the Rockies in 2024. Davis made his MLB debut against the Dodgers in 2022.
Yoendrys Gómez new to Dodgers
Gómez is getting an opportunity with the Dodgers one day after he was claimed off waivers from the New York Yankees. It’s the first time he’s part of a new organization since signing with the Yankees as an international amateur free agent out of Venezuela in 2016.
Gómez developed into a top-30 prospect in the Yankees farm system and was added onto their 40-man roster in November 2020 to be protected from possibly getting selected in the annual Rule 5 Draft.
The 25-year-old made his MLB debut in 2023 and also had three separate stints in the Yankees bullpen last season. Over parts of three years while up with the Yankees, Gómez is a career 1-1 with a 3.09 ERA, 5.47 FIP and 1.41 WHIP in 12 games.
In his six games this year before the Yankees’ DFA decision, Gómez was 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts over 10 innings pitched.
