The Los Angeles Dodgers completed an Opening Day trade with the Boston Red Sox to acquire Noah Davis in exchange for cash considerations.

Davis signed a Minor League contract with the Red Sox during the offseason. He’s joining the Dodgers’ Triple-A Oklahoma City affiliate.

Davis has pitched in the Majors in each of the last three seasons, but only to minimal appearances. He pitched a career-high nine games for the Colorado Rockies in 2024. The right-hander logged a career-high 30 innings for the Rockies in 2023, when he appeared in eight games (six starts).

Over parts of the three seasons from 2022-2024, Davis went 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA, 5.65 FIP and 1.95 WHIP in 18 games (six starts).

His MLB debut coincidentally came against the Dodgers, when Davis allowed two runs on three hits, including a homer. He also faced the Dodgers in 2023, giving up four runs over 4.1 innings pitched during a start at Coors Field.

During his Minor League career, the 27-year-old is 18-25 with a 5.75 ERA and 1.87 WHIP in 95 games (84 starts).

Davis had nine strikeouts across 9.1 innings pitched, and yielded a 0.86 WHIP and .206 batting average against during four relief appearances in Grapefruit League games for the Red Sox this spring.

The Newport Beach, Calif., native attended UC Santa Barbara and was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 11th round in 2018.

The Dodgers figure to utilize Davis in a swing role while with Oklahoma City, and he conceivably will be among their organizational pitching depth considered if a need arises at the Major League level.

Roster move for Noah Davis

The Dodgers transferred Emmet Sheehan to the 60-day injured list in order to make room for Davis on their 40-man roster. Sheehan was among 11 Dodgers pitchers to begin the season on the injured list.
