Dodgers Roster: Emmet Sheehan Transferred To 60-Day Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers transferred Emmet Sheehan to the 60-day injured list, which makes room on the 40-man roster for the addition of Noah Davis, whom they acquired from the Boston Red Sox.

Sheehan was previously placed on the 15-day IL when the Dodgers set their roster for the Tokyo Series. Moving him to the 60-day is procedural as Sheehan was not expected to pitch until around June at the earliest.

The right-hander is almost 11 months removed from undergoing Tommy John surgery, and his recovery has continued to advance well.

Sheehan was first expected to begin his rehab assignment in July, but his smooth recovery process has pushed his timeline up. He is now hopeful to begin a rehab assignment as early as May, or sometime in early June.

“I’ve been feeling great,” Sheehan said at DodgerFest. “I’m throwing, about eight and a half months out of surgery, so it’s been all good. They take really good care of us down in Arizona when we’re rehabbing, so that’s been awesome. Good group of guys.”

Sheehan made his MLB debut during the 2023 season, going 4-1 with a 4.92 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 60.1 innings pitched but showing elite stuff and a ton of upside. He was expected to compete for a rotation spot to begin the 2024 season before dealing with body soreness early in camp and later being diagnosed with right forearm inflammation.

He landed on the IL in March 2024 and underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2024. Even after undergoing surgery, Sheehan remained optimistic and confident he would be back.

Sheehan is one of multiple Dodgers pitchers beginning the 2025 season on the 60-day IL, but he is on track to be one of the earliest to return, if not the first.

In addition to Sheehan, the Dodgers have Clayton Kershaw, Michael Grove, Brusdar Graterol, River Ryan and Gavin Stone on the 60-day IL. Grove, Ryan and Stone are expected to miss the entire 2025 season while Kershaw and Graterol are options to return down the line.

Emmet Sheehan roster move makes room for Noah Davis

The Dodgers completed an Opening Day trade with the Red Sox to acquire Davis in exchange for cash considerations.

Davis signed a Minor League contract with the Red Sox during the offseason. He’s joining the Dodgers’ Triple-A Oklahoma City affiliate.

Davis has pitched in the Majors in each of the last three seasons, but only to minimal appearances. He pitched a career-high nine games for the Colorado Rockies in 2024. The right-hander logged a career-high 30 innings for the Rockies in 2023, when he appeared in eight games (six starts).

Over parts of the three seasons from 2022-2024, Davis went 0-4 with a 7.71 ERA, 5.65 FIP and 1.95 WHIP in 18 games (six starts).
