Los Angeles Dodgers prospect John Rooney was named the Pacific Coast League (PCL) Pitcher of the Week for September 11-17. It marks the fourth consecutive week a Dodgers prospect earned the honor.

Rooney made three relief appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City during the period he was recognized for, throwing six perfect innings and collecting seven strikeouts.

The left-hander is 2-0 with a minuscule 0.66 ERA and 0.59 WHIP in 13.2 innings pitched this month (seven games; one start), while holding hitters to a .114/.170/.136 batting line.

Rooney began the 2023 season with Double-A Tulsa and went 3-2 with a 2.38 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 9.8 strikeouts per nine in 34 innings over 29 appearances.

The 26-year-old was promoted to OKC at the start of July and has pitched to a 3-1 record, 3.51 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 33.1 innings across 23 games (one start).

Between the two affiliates, Rooney owns a combined 6-3 record, 2.94 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 67.1 innings pitched over 52 games (one start).
