Dodgers Players Split More Than $46 Million In 2024 MLB Postseason Shares

Major League Baseball announced the allotment of 2024 postseason shares, with the total pool reaching $129 million for a new record. The amount is slightly up from the 2023 total pool of $107.8 million.

The players’ share of pool money is formed from all four rounds of the postseason. They get 60% of gate receipts from the first two games of each Wild Card Series, first three games of every Division Series and first four games of each League Championship Series and the World Series.

The 2024 MLB postseason pool was divided among the 12 playoff teams: the World Series winner (36%), World Series runner-up (24%), the two LCS runners-up (12% each), the four Division Series runners-up (3.25% each) and the four runners-up in the Wild Card Series (0.75% each).

A full Dodgers postseason share was worth $477,440.70. That amount is technically lower than what a full Texas Rangers postseason share was worth ($506,263) after they won the 2023 World Series.

The lower value is due to the Dodgers distributing more postseason shares than the Rangers did a year ago. That’s been a theme with the Dodgers, who voted to issue the most share equivalents last year at 94.04 despite being swept in the NLDS.

For the 2024 MLB postseason, the World Series champion Dodgers issued 79 full shares, 17.49 partial shares and $405,000 in cash awards from their total postseason pool of $46,473,177.14.

The New York Yankees, who won the American League pennant but lost in the World Series to the Dodgers, awarded 71 full shares and 16.38 partial shares. A full Yankees share was valued at $354,571.67.

Players from each team vote on how many full or partial shares to award to other club personnel.

All players and managers eligible for the World Series who were with the team or on an injured list from June 1 or later in the season receive a full share. Those who were not with the team on or after June 1 are eligible to get a full share or percentage share as voted on by that team’s players, along with two athletic trainers and one strength and conditioning coach.

Spring training coaches, traveling secretaries, clubhouse personnel, media relations staff personnel, scouts and grounds crew are eligible to receive cash awards from the postseason pool but not shares.

Executives, including directors/presidents of baseball operations, general managers, assistant GMs, team physicians and resident security agents are not eligible to receive shares or cash awards.
