The Los Angeles Dodgers finished off the New York Mets with a 10-5 win in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series, winning the pennant for the 22nd time in franchise history.

Tommy Edman began his big night with a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning that gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead. Edman’s extra-base hit also represented the first lead change of the NLCS.

Edman then created some separation for the Dodgers in the third inning with a two-run homer. The Dodgers continued to find success against Phil Maton as Will Smith broke out of his slump with a home run that brought in two more.

The Mets cut their deficit in half before Shohei Ohtani responded with an RBI single in the sixth inning that dropped just in front of a diving attempt by Tyrone Taylor.

The Dodgers later broke the game open in the eighth inning on an RBI double from Mookie Betts, Teoscar Hernández’s sacrifice fly and a run-scoring single by Kiké Hernández.

Edman was named NLCS MVP for the first time in his career, with the award capping off what’s been a remarkable start to his Dodgers career.

Edman began the playoffs filling a utility role but was shifted into the Dodgers’ everyday shortstop at the start of the NLCS because of an injury keeping Miguel Rojas off the roster.

On the pitching front, the Dodgers navigated a bullpen game for the third time this postseason, improving to 2-1 in such contests. There were spots of trouble that arose, but the group of relief pitchers largely minimized the damage.

Blake Treinen entered in the eighth inning to convert a six-out save. It was Treinen’s first time completing two innings since doing so in Game 5 of the 2021 NLCS.
