The Los Angeles Dodgers announced the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes coaching staff for the 2020 season, highlighted by new manager Austin Chubb, who previously played for the affiliate in 2015.

Chubb becomes the third Quakes manager in as many seasons. He takes over for Mark Kertenian, who joined manager Travis Barbary’s Triple-A Oklahoma City coaching staff.

Chubb has served as a coach in the Dodgers organization since 2016. Last season he led Rookie-level Ogden to a franchise-best 54-22 record en route to earning Pioneer League Manager of the Year honors.

Prior to becoming a coach, Chubb played his college ball at Florida Southern. He was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 21st round of the 2012 MLB Draft, appearing in 91 Minor League games over the course of four seasons. Ten of those came with the Quakes in 2015, when he played under former manager Bill Haselman.

Hitting coach Dustin Kelly is the lone holdover on the Quakes coaching staff from last season. He enters his second year with the affiliate and third overall in the Dodgers organization.

Meanwhile, pitching coach Ryan Dennick, coach Jason Bourgeois, athletic trainer Jesse Guffey, development coach David Anderson, performance coach Sam Nickelsen and video associate Kyle Lussier are new hires for the 2020 campaign.

Dennick enters his third season with the Dodgers. Before embarking on a coaching career, he enjoyed a seven-year playing career with the Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds and Dodgers from 2009-15. The 33-year-old received his only MLB opportunity with the Reds in 2014, pitching to an 11.57 ERA over eight appearances.

Bourgeois enters his second season with the Dodgers, most recently serving as an assistant coach for Low-A Great Lakes last year. A former second-round draft pick of the Texas Rangers in 2000, the 38-year-old enjoyed an eight-year Major League playing career that spanned from 2008-15.

The Quakes begin their 2020 season against the Inland Empire 66ers at LoanMart Field on Thursday, April 9. They advanced to the California League playoffs last year but fell to the Lake Elsinore Storm in four games.
