Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Jared Walker was named the California League Player of the Week for July 30-Aug. 5, 2018 for his contributions with the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

The 22-year-old infielder was a fifth-round draft pick of the Dodgers in 2014 and is in the midst of an outstanding season with the Quakes. In 35 games with the affiliate, he is hitting .293/.401/.683 with 12 home runs, 28 RBI and 32 runs scored.

From July 30-Aug. 5, Walker appeared in six games and hit .409 with four home runs, three doubles, four walks, seven RBI and eight runs scored.

He is not the only Dodgers prospect to be recognized in recent days as his former Quakes teammate, Gavin Lux, was named the Cal League Player of the Month for July. Lux was recently promoted to Double-A Tulsa.

Additionally, outfielder Jacob Scavuzzo was named the Texas League Player of the Month for July for his contributions with the Drillers.

Walker began the season with Low-A Great Lakes before earning the promotion to Rancho Cucamonga. He is very versatile on defense, having the ability to play first, second and third base, which is something that is valued greatly in the Dodgers organization.
