Dodgers News: Los Angeles Dream Center Starts Campaign In Support Of Justin Turner All-Star Game Voting

The Los Angeles Dodgers once again are in danger of not having a starter in the MLB All-Star Game despite boasting a roster that features players who are among the best at their position. Such is the case with Justin Turner.

When the Dodgers placed Turner on the 10-day disabled list in May with a hamstring strain, he was batting .379/.453/.493 with 13 doubles, one home run, 17 RBI, a .414 wOBA and 160 wRC+ in 39 games.

Turner at the time led the National League in batting average. That would still hold true but because of time missed, he does not have the minimum plate appearances necessary to qualify.

Since MLB began releasing All-Star Game voting updates, Turner has placed behind Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs, and Colorado’s Nolan Arenado. Turner has seemingly fallen further behind with each weekly update.

Thus, the Dream Center in Los Angeles, located off the 101 highway but a few miles from Dodger Stadium, unveiled a grassroots campaign of sorts for Turner.

The Dream Center temporarily covered their 23-year-old iconic sign with a special message — VoteJustinTurner.com. Turner and the Dream Center have a strong relationship that dates back to his arrival in Los Angeles.

“This organization is incredible,” Turner said. “They provide services and relief to people experiencing various hardships, and I’m constantly blown away by the work that they do.”

In November 2015, The Dream Center opened its Veterans home, which Turner is a supporter of. The home offers assistance to Veterans as they make the transition back into civilian life. The program provides housing for up to 26 homeless Veterans in Los Angeles.

The Justin Turner Foundation and Dream Center also partner to produce a charity golf classic and provide gifts to children and families in need during the holidays.
