Dodgers News: Justin Turner Foundation Begins ‘Military Monday’ At Dodger Stadium & Donation Program For 2019 Season

With the Los Angeles Dodgers set to play their first Monday home game of the 2019 season, the Justin Turner foundation announced a “Military Monday” program in which they will host a military member or veteran plus three family members for each Monday game at Dodger Stadium.

The foundation is accepting nominees via social media (with ‘#JTFMilitaryMonday’ included on the post) and will inform the winner prior to each Monday home game. The initiative is the latest show of appreciation from Turner and his Foundation for active duty military members and veterans.

Turner always takes it upon himself to greet and shake the hand of the Military Hero of the Game the Dodgers recognize for every home date, and also presents each with an autographed baseball.

This past January, he went from a ceremony at Los Angeles City Hall on what was declared Justin Turner Day, to Dodger Stadium to help the Dodgers host their first-ever military enlistment day.

The on-field event saw 39 first-time enlistments and three re-enlistments. Turner greeted each service member and offered words of support in a heartfelt speech. “I’m honored to be a part of it,” Turner said at the time.

“I was pretty nervous. I’ve never served. I didn’t have the commitment or courage to do that, so for me to be a person speaking on their enlistment day, I don’t know if it was necessarily right but I just wanted to make sure I thanked them for the first step that they’re taking into defending our country.

“Tell them we love them, support them, to be safe and we’re always thinking about them. We owe everything to them for what we have. I wanted to wish them the best of luck on their journey.”

Also in effect this season is Turner making a $1,000 donation for every home run he hits. The Justin Turner Foundation invites fans to participate by selecting their desired action and dollar amount.
