UPDATE (Thursday, Nov. 8, 11:15 a.m.): Because of the senseless shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, Calif., Justin Turner and AM 570 L.A. Sports will instead have the radiothon on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Justin Turner is among the athletes and celebrities set to participate in AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio’s Help-A-Hero Radiothon that will benefit the Dream Center, who the Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman works closely with on multiple initiatives through his Justin Turner Foundation.
Turner and his wife Kourtney are expected to be in studio during the 11th annual radiothon. It begins Thursday, Nov. 8, at 12 p.m. PT and concludes at 6 p.m.
Suggested donations begin at $49 and can be completed by by calling 818-524-2930 or online at dreamcenter.org/hero. All listeners who donate at least $100 will receive a $100 gift card from Daniel’s Jewelers.
The Dream Center will use raised funds to provide local veterans with a home, education and job assistance.
“The Dream Center is so excited to partner with AM 570 Sports and iHeartMedia Los Angeles for their 11th annual Help-A-Hero Radiothon,” executive director of Dream Center L.A. Danise Jurado said.
“Over 11,000 of our country’s heroes are living on the streets of Los Angeles without a place to call home. Many of them are struggling to re-acclimate to a civilian lifestyle and battling with emotional trauma; leaving them isolated and homeless. The Dream Center’s Transitional Housing Program for Homeless Veterans is helping our heroes find hope and stability.”
Donors will have the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences including that directly involve Turner, the Dodgers, Lakers and visits to the set of FOX Sports Radio’s “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” a UCLA football game and more.
In the past 11 years, AM 570 L.A. Sports has raised over $1.5 million through the Help-A-Hero Radiothon.
