In recognition of the remarkable 2019 season Hyun-Jin Ryu has put together, which could earn him the National League Cy Young Award, FOCO has modeled a “thematic” bobblehead after him. Ryu is the second Los Angeles Dodgers player to be selected this particular line from FOCO.

The first was Cody Bellinger, who is portrayed completing a home run swing with Dodger Stadium in the background. Bellinger was additionally incorporated into FOCO’s “Stranger Things” and “Game of Thrones” bobblehead series, with Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner also morphed into characters from HBO’s hit show.

Ryu is crafted mid-delivery, with his glove tucked into his chest as he goes to deliver a pitch. Like with Bellinger, a thematic version of Dodger Stadium serves as the backdrop for Ryu, and a home plate display with his last name and jersey number sits in front.

“Ryu has played a major role in the Dodgers’ success this year, proving he’s one of baseball’s best starters en route to a Cy Young Award-caliber season,” said FOCO senior licensing manager Matthew Katz.

“With the Dodgers heading back to the postseason once again, we’re certain the Dodgers faithful will be ecstatic to make this bobblehead the ace of their collection.”

Ryu was running away with what would be his first Cy Young Award, but began to stumble during the second half and it allowed Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer, among others, to enter the conversation.

Though, the Dodgers’ All-Star Game starter is still an impressive 13-5 with an MLB-best 2.41 ERA. Ryu has righted the ship of late, going seven innings in each of his past two starts. The most recent of which came Sunday, when he laid to rest any concerns over Will Smith’s catching.

Ryu’s bobblehead stands approximately eight inches tall, making it an ideal item for a collection at home or in the office. It’s currently available for pre-order and expected to be delivered to customers in the coming months.
