Dodgers News: Corey Seager Sent For X-Rays, Expected To Play Friday

The Los Angeles Dodgers incurred multiple injuries last spring, which was a trend that carried into the regular season. Los Angeles set a major league record by placing 28 different players on the disabled list.

The club has remained relatively healthy since camp opened in February, though a few players have fallen victim to some form of a minor injury. Most notably, Adrian Gonzalez reported to Camelback Ranch with inflammation in his right elbow that’s shut him down.

Gonzalez is however, on the mend, and remains on track to join Team Mexico for the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Meanwhile, Corey Seager took a foul ball off his right shin, was sent for X-rays and isn’t expected to return to the lineup until Friday, per Bill Plunkett of the O.C. Register:

Although x-rays were negative, Andre Ethier’s similar situation last year might give some reason for pause. Ethier was initially diagnosed with a lower leg contusion, only for a follow-up exam to reveal a fractured tibia. He didn’t come off the DL until September.

Seager’s previous brushes with injury include a mild left knee sprain last spring, and a call for x-rays on his right wrist last August.

Seager is 0-for-2 with one walk and one hit by pitch in two starts this spring. It’s currently unclear if he’ll play in the Dodgers home game on Friday against the Kansas City Royals, or their road tilt against Zack Greinke and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
