Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Hosting 3rd Annual “Camp Kersh: Pitching For Purpose”

Clayton Kershaw is hosting the third annual “Camp Kersh: Pitching For Purpose” at 4 p.m. PT on Monday, with registration free and open to players of all ages and skill levels. Details of the virtual event and registration can be completed at CampKersh.com.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Kershaw’s Challenge, which was established by Clayton and Ellen Kershaw in 2011. Beneficiaries of the foundation are Behind Every Door and Shoes that Fit in Dallas, Los Angeles Dream Center, Shoes That Fit, Arise Africa and Both Ends Believing in Zambia, and International Justice Mission and Both Ends Believing in the Dominican Republic.

“I am excited to host another year of Camp Kersh,” Kershaw said in a statement. “We held this camp for the first time during the pandemic – it was so much fun and such a great addition, that we decided to keep going. Hopefully this camp gives some helpful tips to kids looking to improve in baseball. Should be a lot of fun!”

Presented by Skechers and additionally sponsored by Mustard, “Camp Kersh” will include tips from the three-time Cy Young Award winner, pitching fundamentals, start day preparation, training insight and an exclusive Q&A with Kershaw.

The virtual camp additionally will feature special guests throughout the program. Last year, Los Angeles Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior and former teammates David Price and Justin Turner provided instruction to campers.

Donations to Kershaw’s Challenge will also be accepted at CampKersh.com. Since its inception, the foundation has raised more than $16 million to support at-risk children and families around the globe.

Clayton Kershaw taking step back

Upon needing to back out from pitching for Team USA in the 2023 World Baseball Classic due to the reported inability to secure insurance, the Dodgers and Kershaw decided to have the left-hander scale back his throwing program.

Kershaw has yet to take the mound for live batting practice and it’s unclear when he may start in a Cactus League game.
