Dodgers News: Breyvic Valera Returned To Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Los Angeles Dodgers returned infielder Breyvic Valera to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday. Valera was called up to be the 26th man during the Mexico Series in Monterrey against the San Diego Padres.

Valera appeared in two games over the weekend, pinch-hitting on both occasions. He earned himself a walk in Saturday’s game and then struck out in his at-bat on Sunday.

Overall, Valera has had three different stints with the Dodgers this season, appearing in five games in which he has gone 0-for-4 with two walks.

He has had success in his time with Oklahoma City so far this season. In 17 games, Valera has hit .373/.459/.549 with two home runs, 14 RBI and nine walks. He is known for his plate discipline, which has been on display both in the big leagues and Minor Leagues so far this season.

The Dodgers got off to a hot start in the Mexico Series, tossing the first combined no-hitter in franchise history in the first game on Friday night.

It was all downhill from there though, as they were defeated by the last-place Padres in both of the last two games. They also received some bad news on the injury front while in Mexico, with Clayton Kershaw becoming the latest key player to land on the disabled list with an injury.

Kershaw is dealing with bicep tendonitis, which obviously isn’t ideal, but it is positive news considering the injury could have been much worse.
