Dodgers Highlights: Mookie Betts & Will Smith Homer; Entire Lineup Contributes In Blowout Of D-Backs

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a series win against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a blowout victory led by contributions from their entire lineup and two home runs from stars.

David Peralta started the scoring for the Dodgers early with a double to drive in Mookie Betts while advancing Max Muncy to third base. Jason Heyward then followed with a two-run double to put L.A. up 3-0 in the first inning for a second consecutive game.

The Dodgers continued to add on in the second when Chris Taylor walked and stole second base, then came around to score on a single from Miguel Rojas.

Muncy continued his hot hitting in the third with a double to lead off the inning before Peralta singled to drive him in. The inning continued when James Outman singled and Taylor doubled to bring home another run, increasing the lead to six runs.

The Diamondbacks got on the board with a home run from Corbin Carroll in the fifth, but the Dodgers answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a when Muncy scored on a sacrifice fly from Outman.

Betts hit his 36th home run of the year to continue extending the lead. Betts now has his career-high in long balls with more than a month remaining in the season as he makes his case as the National League’s MVP.

Smith then followed with a home run to make the score 9-1, which ended up being the final.

Freddie Freeman was the only starting position player in the lineup to not record a hit as he went 0-for-4. Betts and Smith each had two hits while Peralta, Heyward and Taylor all had three hits.

Clayton Kershaw moves up Dodgers leaderboard

Clayton Kershaw pitched five innings of one-run ball to earn the win, which was the 209th of his career. That tied him with Don Drysdale for the second-most in Dodgers franchise history, trailing Don Sutton’s 233 wins.
