Dodgers Highlights: Manny Machado Hits First Home Run At Dodger Stadium

With the Los Angeles Dodgers trading for Manny Machado during the All-Star break and the club facing a 10-game road trip to start the second half of the season, it wasn’t until Monday that he played his first home game at Dodger Stadium.

Machado entered the series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers having only played three career games at Chavez Ravine. He went 2-for-14 with one home run, three RBI, two walks and three strikeouts in those contests with the Baltimore Orioles.

Machado struck out in his first at-bat on Monday night, then walked in the third inning and promptly scored on Max Muncy’s triple. It was the only run the Dodgers mustered heading into the ninth inning.

Trailing 5-2 and down to their final two outs, Machado provided a bit of fireworks by depositing a 99 mph fastball over the wall in straightaway center field. The home run was his second with the Dodgers and first at Dodger Stadium since the trade.

Machado’s blast provided one highlight on what was otherwise a down night for the Dodgers at the plate. They left at least one runner on base through each of the first seven innings, stranded 11 overall and were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position in their 5-2 loss.

It was somewhat fitting considering Dodger Stadium experienced a power outage in the second inning that caused a 23-minute delay.
