The Los Angeles Dodgers officially clinched home-field advantage through the World Series thanks to the Philadelphia Phillies losing, and although that amounted to nothing being left to play for this season, they put together another strong performance in a 13-2 win against the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies took an early lead on Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but Kiké Hernández erased that with a three-run home run in the second inning. Hernández was in the Dodgers lineup as the starting first baseman for a second consecutive game due to Freddie Freeman not being with the team as he recovers from a sprained right ankle.

Mookie Betts’ extended the Dodgers’ lead to 4-1 with two outs in the third inning by scoring on a passed ball. Betts had been on base thanks to a leadoff double.

Kevin Kiermaier’s RBI single in the fifth inning put the Dodgers up 5-2 but proved to be somewhat costly as he suffered a dislocated left ring finger while trying to stretch it to a double. Andy Pages replaced Kiermaier to begin the bottom of the fifth.

After Shohei Ohtani and Gavin Lux both drew a walk, Teoscar Hernández broke the game open with a three-run home run. The homer was Hernández’s 33rd of the season, giving him a new career high.

Will Smith contributed with an RBI base hit in the eighth inning, which Chris Taylor and Lux did as well in the ninth. Max Muncy capped off the Dodgers’ scoring with a two-run double.

Ohtani finished 2-for-5 with one stolen base, of which he now has 58 on the season. Ohtani was initially given a 59th stolen base as well but a scoring changed took it away due to a balk.

Dodgers regular season finale

The Dodgers finish the 2024 season with an opportunity to finish off a series sweep of the Rockies. Anthony Banda is the listed starter and Landon Knack is expected to fill a bulk role after the opener.
