Matt Kemp Day at Dodger Stadium ended in thrilling fashion as Teoscar Hernández delivered a walk-off hit to help the Los Angeles Dodgers sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates in extra innings.

Well before Hernández’s heroics, the Dodgers took an early lead thanks to an RBI double by Will Smith and Amed Rosario’s base hit. Then in the second inning, Hernández extended the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0 with a two-run double.

Tyler Glasnow upheld that as he got through seven innings with just two runs allowed. Those came on Andrew McCutchen’s homer in the third inning that cut the Dodgers’ lead in half.

L.A. squandered multiple opportunities as the game progressed and it ultimately came back to cost them.

McCutchen’s second two-run homer of the day pulled the Pirates even in the eighth inning. That gave McCutchen his first two-homer game since 2022, when he did it for the Milwaukee Brewers, also against L.A.

Dodgers walk-off win

The Pirates took their first lead of the day in the 10th inning when Teoscar Hernández misplayed a ball in left-center field.

But the Dodgers quickly responded as Kiké Hernández hit a game-tying leadoff double in the bottom of the half, and Teoscar Hernández provided his second walk-off hit with the Dodgers. Overall, it was the sixth walk-off RBI for Hernández.
