Although they fell short of winning a ninth consecutive National League West title, the Los Angeles Dodgers still enjoyed a historic season on many levels.
In completing a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, L.A. tied a franchise record with 106 wins, which was last accomplished by the 2019 team. That’s also the most victories by any club without a division title in MLB history.
The Dodgers additionally ended the regular season with 15 consecutive victories at Dodger Stadium, which is the longest home winning streak since 1901.
What’s more, L.A. set a new franchise record with 11 grand slams this season, surpassing the 10 hit by the 2004 team. Trea Turner and Gavin Lux led the way with two each, with the former hitting both this past weekend against the Brewers.
Turner made some individual history, becoming the first Dodgers player with two grand slams in a three-game stretch since Mike Piazza accomplished the feat on April 9 and 10, 1998.
May 2: AJ Pollock, Matt Beaty
The Dodgers hit their first two grand slams of the season in a 16-4 blowout win over the Brewers at American Family Field, with AJ Pollock getting things started with a bases-clearing home run in the first inning against Alec Bettinger to give L.A. a 5-0 lead.
The floodgates opened in the top of the second when Matt Beaty hit his first career grand slam off Bettinger to put the Dodgers on top, 9-0.
May 18: Gavin Lux
With the Dodgers looking to protect a 4-1 lead against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Gavin Lux doubled the club’s run total in the seventh inning with his first career grand slam off Kevin Ginkel.
May 23: Gavin Lux
Just five days later, Lux hit his second career grand slam off San Francisco Giants starter Anthony DeSclafani to give the Dodgers a commanding 10-0 lead in the top of the third.
June 2: Cody Bellinger
The Dodgers cruised to a 14-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, scoring all but three of their runs in the first inning. The frame was capped off by Cody Bellinger’s two-out grand slam against Jake Woodford that gave L.A. an 11-1 lead.
June 27: Zach McKinstry
Zach McKinstry became the third Dodger of the season to hit his first career grand slam, doing so against Chicago Cubs starter Adbert Alzolay in the second inning of a 7-1 win.
July 1: Max Muncy
In a game that was shortened to five innings due to rain, Max Muncy hit a go-ahead grand slam in what wound up being the final frame to propel the Dodgers to a 6-2 win over the Washington Nationals.
July 10: Justin Turner, Mookie Betts
Justin Turner and Mookie Betts each hit grand slams in the Dodgers’ historic 22-1 win over the Diamondbacks. L.A. became the first team in MLB history to hit two grand slams in multiple games of the same season.
Oct. 1: Trea Turner
As part of a 2-for-3 effort at the plate, Trea Turner hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in the Dodgers’ 8-6 win over the Brewers.
Oct. 3: Trea Turner
Just two days later, Turner hit his second grand slam of the season and clinched the NL batting title in a 10-3 victory over the Brewers.
