Dodgers Become First Team To Surpass 3 Million In Home Attendance During 2017 Season

The 2017 season has been a year of firsts and rewriting the record books for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and on Friday night they reached another milestone by becoming the first team to pass the three million mark in home attendance.

The Dodgers went over the threshold by playing the Milwaukee Brewers in front of a sellout crowd Friday night — the first of Players Weekend. It was also Healthcare Appreciation Night and Friday Night Fireworks at Dodger Stadium.

This year is a sixth consecutive season in which the Dodgers have reached three million in home attendance. During the stretch they’ve led the Majors in that category in all but one year (2012).

Playing at Dodger Stadium has suited the Dodgers well, evident by their 52-16 record this season. They won a season-high 11 consecutive home games from June 7-25, and have produced nine walk-off wins.

The latest of which came on Yasiel Puig’s two-run double that capped off a three-run rally against the Chicago White Sox in the ninth inning.

Not only do the Dodgers boast the best home record, they do so by a wide margin. Through play Sunday, only the Arizona Diamondbacks (42-23) and Boston Red Sox (40-25) have at least 40 home wins.

The Dodgers have spent the bulk of August on the road, but September will bring separate seven- and six-game homestands. Ahead are several marquee nights on the team’s promotional and giveaway calendar, including a Cody Bellinger bobblehead (Sept.8) and Fan Appreciate Day (Sept. 24).
