The Los Angeles Dodgers began their final regular-season home series by coming from behind to defeat the Colorado Rockies and with that broke the franchise record for most wins at Dodger Stadium with 58. The 2017 club broke the L.A. franchise record with their 56th win, and finished the season with 57 home victories.

The 1953 Brooklyn team, who won the National League pennant, holds the organization’s modern all-time record with 60 home wins; the 1899 club is the Dodgers’ all-time leader with 61. The best year’s team can do is match the modern record.

With just two more victories, the Dodgers will become the first NL team to win 60 home games since the 1977 Philadelphia Phillies.

The Dodgers’ success this season has been built on four different stretches of at least five consecutive home wins. They rattled off 10 in a row across multiple homestands from late April into early May, and also had streaks of seven wins, six (one homestand) and five.

Furthermore, Dodger Stadium has been witness to 12 walk-off victories, which is three from matching the franchise’s all-time record. The Dodgers additionally lead in attendance, having surpassed 3 million for an eighth year in a row.

They’ve paced the Majors in that category in all but one year (2012) during the stretch.

While L.A. is tied for the best home record in baseball, they continue to trail the Houston Astros and New York Yankees for overall mark. That of course would guarantee home-field advantage through the World Series, which Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and several players have emphasized.

“When you’re talking about potentially getting in the World Series, if you have that opportunity, it’s important,” Roberts said. “Our goal is to win every game. However we do that and if we can ultimately secure the best record, that would be great.”

As it stands, the Dodgers are tracking to have homefield through the NL portion of the playoffs by virtue of remaining ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the standings. At minimum, Dodger Stadium will play host to Games 1 and 2 of the NL Division Series.

If the current standings hold, that will come against the winner of the NL Wild Card Game, which the Washington Nationals are in place to host.

The NLDS is scheduled to begin at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 3.
